Project details

Project period
08.2016 – 05.2017
Location
Oświęcim, Więźniów Oświęcimia 20

‘Preparation of design and cost-estimate documentation for a 630 kVA, 15/0.4 kV transformer station and its 15 kV MV supply cable line near Building A-51 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, together with design supervision during project execution’

The assignment comprises the preparation of the building permit design for the Client’s internal installation, including:

  • construction of a containerised transformer station rated at 15/0.4 kV
  • construction of a medium-voltage cable line rated at 15 kV
  • construction of a cable duct system for low-voltage cable lines rated at 0.4 kV.

The assignment will provide the power supply for Building A-51, known as the ‘Old Theatre’, which is being adapted to house the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at Stanisławy Leszczyńskiej Street, 32-603 Oświęcim, within the grounds of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The work was commissioned by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, 20 Więźniów Oświęcimia Street, 32-603 Oświęcim, under the contract entitled ‘Preparation of design and cost-estimate documentation for a 630 kVA, 15/0.4 kV transformer station and its 15 kV MV supply cable line near Building A-51 at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, together with design supervision during project execution’.
The purpose of the assignment is to prepare building permit design documentation for the electrical discipline, enabling the works to be correctly executed in accordance with recognised engineering practice and with the standards and principles that ensure safety and correct operation of the technical infrastructure, as well as to obtain the administrative decisions required by law.

In accordance with the Client’s commission and the connection conditions issued by Tauron Dystrybucja S.A., the assignment covers:

  • construction of a medium-voltage power cable line rated at 15 kV,
  • construction of an indirect billing metering system located in the containerised station,
  • installation of a 630 kVA containerised transformer station rated at 15/0.4 kV,
  • construction of cable ducts for LV cable lines.

The above infrastructure is designed to provide the primary 0.4 kV low-voltage power supply for Building A-51, known as the ‘Old Theatre’, which is being adapted to house the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust at Stanisławy Leszczyńskiej Street, 32-603 Oświęcim. It will also enable a backup supply to be routed to the existing RGnN low-voltage switchboard in the transformer station located in Building A-31, known as the former Camp Kitchen, within the grounds of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum at 20 Więźniów Oświęcimia Street, 32-603 Oświęcim.

The construction of the utility power connection, covered by separate documentation, includes:

  1. the routes of the 15 kV medium-voltage cable line from the cut-in point on the existing HAKFtA 3 × 50 mm², 15 kV cable circuit between the Zasole main supply substation and the Oświęcim Muzeum transformer station [50067], to the ZKSN cable junction,
  2. the ZKSN cable junction, consisting of a three-panel 15 kV switchgear assembly with load-break switches and earthing switches.

The route and the location of the cable junction are covered by separate documentation; the proposed locations are shown in the site development plan included in this design.

The internal installation designed under this assignment includes:

  1. the routes of the 15 kV medium-voltage cable line from the ZKSN cable junction, designed under separate documentation, towards the proposed ST-15/0.4 kV containerised transformer station
  2. a 630 kVA containerised transformer station rated at 15/0.4 kV, including the installation of a 400 kVA transformer, a category B4 indirect billing metering system and all other required equipment,
  3. cable duct routes made of PE Ø160 protective pipes for 0.4 kV low-voltage cable lines, running from the proposed containerised transformer station to the boundary of Plot No. 1908/6 towards the existing RGnN low-voltage switchboard in the transformer station located in Building A-31, known as the former Camp Kitchen.

With reference to the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Development of 22 September 2015 on the detailed scope and form of a building design, specifically Section 11(2)(4), the proposed technical solution has been proven in Polish practice and contains newly designed elements, excluding extension, reconstruction or vertical extension.
1.6 Project location
The project will be implemented in Małopolskie Voivodeship, Oświęcim County, cadastral unit 121301_1 — town, cadastral precinct No. 0001, Oświęcim, on the following plots:
within the scope of this assignment:

  • 1908/6 (Entity: the State Treasury — Małopolskie Voivode; in the use of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim), covering:
  • the routes of the 15 kV medium-voltage cable line from the ZKSN cable junction, designed under separate documentation, towards the proposed ST-15/0.4 kV containerised transformer station
  • a 630 kVA containerised transformer station rated at 15/0.4 kV, including the installation of a 400 kVA transformer, a category B4 indirect billing metering system and all other required equipment,
  • cable duct routes made of PE Ø160 protective pipes for 0.4 kV low-voltage cable lines, running from the proposed containerised transformer station to the boundary of Plot No. 1908/6 towards the existing RGnN low-voltage switchboard in the transformer station located in Building A-31, known as the former Camp Kitchen.
